Sikh Missionary College

Officially known as the Gurmat Gyan Sikh Missionary College. According to the mission statement available on their website, the Sikh Missionary College is an organization for propagating the Sikh Religion. This organization was established on May 30, 1980 at New Delhi, India by Gursikhs from Delhi & Punjab. It was decided to form a Supreme Council of nine founder members to run the organization.
S. Harbhajan Singh of Ludhiana was appointed the President of the organization and it was decided to setup the head office of the organization in Ludhiana.
History
The founder members and other leading members were already associated with the study and propagation of Sikhism for about 15 to 20 years. Therefore despite being a new organization Sikh Missionary College established itself as a leading organization in the field of propagation of Sikhism. Today, nineteen years after its foundation it is considered next only to Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committee, Amritsar. In addition to the head office at Ludhiana it has sub-offices at Delhi, Chandigarh, Jalandhar and Jammu .There are approx. 450 Study-Circles in India and other countries of the world which are engaged in propagating the faith.
To serve the community well and to conserve all resources for propagation of religion only, the organisation has kept aloof from all kinds of political activities.
Controversies
In recent times, the school has achieved a notorious image in minds of many people. The organization has received a lot of negative publicity for promoting values contrarily to Sikh beliefs. Association with people such as Inder S. Ghagga and Gurbaksh Kala Afgana has only brought helped tarnish the image of this organization in minds of Panthic Gursikhs.
